Pham Hong Hai became the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HSBC Bank (Vietnam) Ltd. on 1 December 2014. He is the first ever Vietnamese person to head operations at this Vietnam’s leading foreign-owned bank.
Hai holds a Professional Diploma in Financial Services from the Institute of Financial Services in the UK and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City.
Dr. Vu Viet Ngoan was appointed Head of the Economic Advisory Group to the Prime Minister, responsible for advising Prime Minister on economic development issues, in July 2017. He is former President of the National Financial Supervisory Commission from 2011 and former Vice President of the Economic Committee of the Parliament from 2007. Before that he worked for the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) in several positions from Deputy Director of Transaction Center, Deputy General Director and ultimately as General Director. As Head of the Economic Advisory Group, he leads the group of 14 acknowledged expert members to advise the PM on mid- and long-term economic policies, strategies and annual socio-economic development plans.
Noelan Arbis joined HSBC in June 2017 as an ASEAN economist. Noelan gained experience in international trade working in Washington D.C. and Bangkok. He holds a BA in international studies (magna cum laude) from California State University, Long Beach, and an MA in international economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
Dr. Pham Ngoc Minh is Chairman of Vietnam Airlines JSC – the flag carrier of Vietnam since 01 June 2016. Prior to that he held several executive positions at Vietnam Airlines including President and CEO, Vice President Commercial of VNA Corporation. He has, over the last years, spearheaded the growth of Vietnam Airlines with phenomenal expansion in terms of modern fleet; domestic, regional and international flight networks; large scale projects with major investment as well as improvement in service quality. Dr. Minh was elected as member of International Air Transport Association (IATA) Board of Governors since June 2013 and member of IATA Board of Governors’ Strategy and Policy Committee since June 2015. He was honorary awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur by French Government.
Huong Vu, EY Vietnam, is a Tax Partner leading the Advisory Services and Tax Controversy. She is also the General Director of EY Consulting Vietnam. Huong Vu has more than 20 years of professional practice in Tax and regulatory consulting in Vietnam and Laos. She has extensive experience in tax dispute resolution and has advised on numerous high-profile tax disputes at both a local and national level, offering insight on matters ranging from dispute resolution strategies through to government liaison, negotiation and settlement. Huong Vu holds a CPA Australia certificate from 2009 and is currently a board member of the Vietnam Tax Consultant Association. She is also the leader of Tax group of Vietnam Business Forum (VBF). Huong Vu personally received recognition awards from the Prime Minister for her achievements and contributions to Tax development in Vietnam.
Mr Alain Cany has been in charge of various executive positions in Banking industry in France, Hongkong and Vietnam for many decades. He used to be General Manager of CCF in Hong Kong; Head of HSBC European Business Development in Hong Kong and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Vietnam since 1994 till 2007.
After that, he continued to be in charge of many other senior positions in Finance industry in Vietnam. He became Group Country Chairman of Jardine Matheson Vietnam in August 2007 and Chief Representative and Senior Advisor of N.M Rothschild & Sons until August 2013. He has been a member of the Board of Siam City Cement Vietnam since March 2107; a member of the Board of Directors of Vinamilk since March 2018.
He has been Co-Chairman of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) 2012-2014, representing foreign businesses. He was Chairman of Eurocham Vietnam for 7 years from 2005 - 2012.
He was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister on 6 January 2011 and a Friendship Medal by the President of The Socialist Republic of Vietnam on 30 March 2011.
He holds a BA in economic sciences from the University of Paris and was awarded Chevalier de la Legion d' Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by the President of the Republic of France in 2002 and Officer of the French National Merit Order.
